Playoff hopefuls: 10 players who will decide Decision Day
Decision Day is nearly here, folks.
2022: Talles Magno continued his impressive form into the 2022 campaign to earn a nomination for the MLS Young Player of the Year award. Recording the second-highest minutes tally for NYCFC for the regular season, he started 32 of our 34 games, registering seven goals and 10 assists, before bagging a playoff strike against CF Montréal. A regular contributor at the sharp end of the pitch, he was shortlisted for March’s Etihad Player of the Month prize and crafted an assist in our Campeones Cup win.
2021: NYCFC acquired forward Talles Magno as a Young Designated Player from Brazilian side Vasco da Gama on a contract through the 2026 season. The forward played 15 regular season games and notched his first goal for the Club against FC Dallas in September before scoring his second against Inter Miami CF. The teenager also played a pivotal role in the Club's MLS Cup success, scoring the winning goal in the Eastern Conference Final as well as one of the four successful penalties in MLS Cup.
2019: The Rio de Janeiro native came through the Vasco da Gama academy before starting for their First Team in 2019 as a 16-year-old, becoming the youngest player to debut for the club in the 21st century. The forward has played 61 total matches for Vasco including 49 in the Brazilian topflight where he’s scored five goals. Magno, a 2019 U-17 World Cup winner for Brazil, Magno helped the Brazilian U-17 national team win the 2019 World Cup on home soil where he added two goals during the group stage. He was also recently named one of Goal’s Top 50 wonderkids in world football.
